"Bow"tiful vest knitting pattern

A few years ago I knitted  a vest for Little M and it was very popular. Many knitters asked for the pattern but there is not a written one for that vest. I counted the stitches and knitted another one to write the rows.
The yellow one is knitted using 2 balls of  Berroco comfort worsted yarn with 5 mm knitting needles. The chest is 60cm and it is 52 cm long and suitable for 4-5 years old.

For the second vest I used double knitting yarn and 3.5mm knitting needles. 20 gr of white yarn and 30 gr of mint yarn is left. The chest of the vest is 45 cm and it is 40 cm long and suitable for 2-3 years old.
For worsted weight yarn make the button holes in every 12 garter ridges. With double knitting yarn I made the button holes every 10 garter ridges.

k : knit
p : purl
yo : yarn over
k2tog : knit 2 stitches together
c8f : take 4 stitches on cable needle and keep them on the front, knit next 4 stitches and knit 4 stitches on the cable
s1 k2tog psso : slip 1 stitch, knit next 2 stitches together, pass slipped stitch over it

Cast on 168 (47 for right front, 74 for back, 47 for left front)
1- RS: k10, (k2, p2) * Repeat * until you have 10 stitches left, k10
2- WS: k10, (k2, p2)*  Repeat * until you have 10 stitches left, k10
3- RS: k10, (p2, k2)* Repeat * until you have 10 stitches left, k10
4- WS: k10, (p2, k2)* Repeat * until you have 10 stitches left, k10

Repeat these 4 rows until you have 44 garter ridges.

Button hole row : k3, yo twice, k2tog, k3, yo twice, k2tog, (k2, p2) * Repeat * until you have 10 stitches left, k10
WS: k10, (k2, p2)* Repeat * until you have 10 stitches left, k1, drop one yarn over and knit, k4, drop one yarn over and knit, k3

Continue knitting in the same pattern (rows 1-4) until you have 54 garter ridges. We will make  second button holes and set the pattern now.

Meadowbrook scarf for my husband

When I started knitting, my husband asked a jumper for himself. We bought bamboo yarn in blue shades and I did some pattern search. After finding a pattern he likes, I casted on and off again and again; finally I gave up.. Instead I made fingerless gloves for him to wear in winter while driving, home slippers etc.. But he is still asking for that jumper :) I always found excuses not to make it, and was looking for some other patterns which is easier than a jumper, like a scarf.

I saw Meadowbrook pattern by random on ravelry and that is it! I decided to knit it for his birthday. Easy to knit, masculine, quick project..
I used Nako Super Pearl yarn from my stash as I am trying to save some place for new yarns. :)  I used 4.5mm knitting needles so I had to change the numbers. I used one and almost half of another skein of blue yarn (100gr a ball) and half of gray yarn. The white yarn is from my aunt`s stash that she gave me a few years ago. :)

I used a different cable pattern which is free on Ravelry for the cable section.
Normally, I dont like knitting in knit-purl ribs but I really enjoyed knitting and I finished it within a week, just knitting in the evenings when kids were sleeping. Hooray for big needles! :)

My husband also asked me to knit a hat for him.. That is my next project but it is almost spring now so it might take a while until next winter :)

Easy peasy garter stitch vest for baby

This pattern is waiting in my draft list for more than a month. I have finished knitting and writing it but couldn`t take photo for the post. When it is sunny outside, I had things to do at home with kids; when I had time the weather was dark and gray. Better late than never, here is the pattern.. I hope i can publish all other craft projects waiting on my draft list soon :)
I used leftover baby yarns from my stash and knitted with 4.00 knitting needles. The gauge and size will change depending on the yarn choice and needle.
The vest is knitted starting from back part, in garter stitch. (Knit on both right and wrong side)

With the yarn and needle I used 5 stiches in garter stitch is 1 inch. The chest of the finished vest is 20 inch which is suitable for 12-18 months old.

Cable vest for Little M

I haven`t been updating my blog for a while. I am busy with knitting, sewing for my shop and expecting a new baby :)
I wanted to share one my latest knitting project for Little M.

The vest is knitted from bottom to up in double seed stitch. Then it is divided into 3 parts, one for back and two for fronts.

The cable on body part gives the vest pleat effect, I love it.

After knitting front parts and back, the collar is knitted. And finally, the bow on the back. :)

My circular needle broke!

I was knitting a lacy shawl for my etsy shop with black mohair yarn. Then, I felt something is not right and auughhh!!.. My circular needle was broken and over 600 stitches were off the cord!! I had just a few rows to finish the shawl and was planning to start another one. I was shocked for a while, I thought undoing all the yarn or throw away all the project. Then, I took a deep breath and told myself it was almost finished. I quickly and carefully picked up stitches to a longer straight shawl needle. It took almost an hour to do that.

Now, I need a new and GOOD one because this is the second time that I have the same issue with circular needles. I told what happened to Etsy knitters and asked for help. They suggested some brands.

  • Lantern Moon
  • Addi turbo
  • Knit picks interchangeable needles
  • Takumi bamboo needles
  • Chiaogoo Knit Red lace needles
I made a quick search and ordered Addi Turbo needles from the UK website. Two of Etsy knitters said they were using it for a long time and didn`t have any problems so far.
Some Etsy knitters also suggested interchangeable ones. I want to have Knit Picks for a while but they are a bit expensive. I think it is time to invest in some good needles, especially circular ones, as I have a shop for 2 years. Maybe I should ask from my husband to buy me as a gift on our anniversary :D
